Born L.J. Marcotti but taking the nom de plume J.L. Marcotti, Marcotti is devoted to creating contemporary portraits and landscapes that push the very boundaries of fine art. “No matter how many times people say ‘It looks nothing like her/him/me’ I keep on working to produce the best contemporary art since Matisse. That’s not a claim I make for myself, but was how my portrait of Aneurin Bevan with an owl perched on a ladder eating a sausage was described by Sir Wallace Pink in the little known art critical magazine The Teeside Art Gazette.”
Marcotti also produces abstract works, usually in series, which are available for collectors.
