The Big Celebrity Interview
Feb 23rd, 2009 by fine art dealer
So, David, you spend a lot of your time hanging around in the nude. You’re
comfortable with your own body?

Si, I’ve got used to it over the years. It was a bit tricky at first, but after a
couple of centuries it was fine. I hardly notice it now.
You spent a lot of your life outdoors, then you moved
inside - we haven’t seen you outside for years.
It was out of my hands. I didn’t have a say in that
decision.
Do you miss your old spot outside in the Piazza della
Signoria?
Of course. Florence has a great climate and for most
of the year it was great. Christmas inside is better
though. Even Firenze gets a bit nippy.
What’s your favourite? Pasta alla vongole or pizza marinara?
I still remember those Napolitan pizzas. Delizioso!
Will we see you in the UK soon?
My traveling days are over, but I believe you can see a likeness in the V and A.
Are you envious of the Sistine chapel or the Pieta?
No. They get their visitors, I get mine. We appeal to very different people.
Their’s are mainly gawpers. People love me.
Your skin is still remarkably youthful. Have you had botox?
There are so many factors involved in staying youthful. I can’t comment on
individual treatments.
Finally, it has been said that you already existed within the marble block and
that Mr Buonarroti merely released you?
That is entirely true. I had been in there a long time. It was good to get out.
David, thank you for your time.
