OK, we don’t have one of these babies, but there is an artwork coming that is based on it… You’ll have to stay glued to find out what it is! More details at some undisclosed point in the future…
Historical note: The Penny Black was only used for a year.The red cancellation stamp was difficult to see on the black background. Worse, the red ink could be washed off the Penny Black, so stamps could be reused! The Penny Red replaced it, along with black cancelling ink.
Will we se a Penny Red artwork?

Wow! Look at this beauty!

The original might be in Florence, but we have a great little bust on a hard wood plinth. Fantastic, just look at that expression. Facing Rome to keep to keep the Pope away from Firenze. Not sure a scowl would have been enough to keep the Papal armies at bay, no matter how fierce…

pretty little things, n’est-ce pas? Dated to 1895 - Oscar Wilde could have sipped his morning coffee from them! or maybe not!
